Meet
Umesh Anuruddha
I’m Umesh Anuruddha, founder of Being-Space, from Sri Lanka. From childhood, I carried a deep curiosity about life’s greater questions — its purpose, its meaning, and the path to genuine happiness. This journey led me to explore philosophy, religions, and meditation practices, especially Vipassana. I immersed myself in the study of sound and frequencies, color psychology, healing traditions, and also developed a strong interest in politics, science, physics, and the systems that shape our world.
Through these explorations, I learned to see life more clearly and to live with awareness and presence.
For over a decade in the hospitality industry, I had the privilege of meeting thousands of people from around the world. As a manager and guest-relations professional, I listened deeply, connected with diverse cultures, and came to understand not only different ways of living but also the deep emotions and struggles that shape human beings. Every interaction expanded my compassion, resilience, and understanding of life.
I am also a proud father of a six-year-old daughter. Parenthood has been one of my greatest teachers, deepening my empathy, patience, and appreciation for life’s simple yet profound moments. She reminds me daily of the importance of presence, love, and mindful guidance.
My Journey to Healing and Mindfulness
Even with all my experiences, life brought me to a profound challenge — a period of severe depression. I faced suicidal thoughts, overwhelming anxiety, and days when I couldn’t even get out of bed or speak to people. I lost my confidence and felt completely broken.
This darkness showed me how deeply the ego can trap a person, even to the edge of death. It became the turning point of my life. With consistency, discipline, and a deep will to heal, I worked my way back. Within three months, I let go of medication, realizing how it was becoming addictive and no longer truly helping me. Instead, I turned toward the natural path of healing.
Through mindfulness, meditation, body awareness, and honest self-inquiry, I gradually found balance again. By staying consistent, I transformed my life in ways I once thought impossible.
This journey brought me a quiet understanding of life that goes beyond knowledge — a clarity and peace that can’t be fully explained, only experienced. Having walked through suffering and found healing, I now share this insight with others, guiding with empathy, presence, and grounded awareness.
Experience in Wellness and Leadership
Alongside my personal journey, I now guide people to heal and find clarity through mindfulness. I also give public talks in Sri Lanka, especially within the Buddhist community, sharing insights on healing and mindful living.
Combined with my background in hospitality, these experiences have taught me how to create safe, nurturing environments where people feel seen, heard, and supported. My approach is practical, compassionate, and deeply human.
