Umesh Anuruddha

My Story

I’m Umesh Anuruddha, from Sri Lanka. From childhood, I’ve carried a quiet but deep curiosity about life—its purpose, its meaning, and whether true happiness is possible. This curiosity wasn’t intellectual alone; it was something I felt in my body and heart, shaping how I saw the world and myself.

Over time, this inner questioning led me toward philosophy, spiritual traditions, and meditation—especially Vipassana. I explored sound and frequency, color psychology, and holistic healing, while also being deeply interested in science, physics, politics, and the systems that influence human behavior. I was always trying to understand both the inner world and the outer structures that shape our lives.

Alongside this search, I spent more than a decade in the hospitality industry, working closely with people from around the world. In roles of leadership and guest relations, I learned how to truly listen, sense what lies beneath words, and hold space with presence and care. These years taught me compassion, humility, and how powerful it is when someone feels genuinely seen and supported.

I am also a father. Parenthood has been one of my deepest teachers, softening me and grounding me in what truly matters. Through my daughter, I’m reminded daily of presence, patience, and love in their simplest forms.

Life eventually brought me to a breaking point. I went through a period of severe depression, marked by overwhelming anxiety, suicidal thoughts, and a deep loss of confidence. There were days when even getting out of bed felt impossible. In that darkness, I saw clearly how unconscious patterns and ego can imprison the mind.

That period became a turning point. With discipline, consistency, and a sincere will to heal, I turned fully toward mindfulness, meditation, body awareness, and honest self-inquiry. Slowly, my life began to change. Clarity returned. Balance emerged. And a quiet peace grew—one that cannot be explained, only lived.

From this lived understanding, I founded Being-Space as a hub to share awareness and presence through direct experience. My path continues to be one of learning, humility, and honesty—walking alongside others while staying deeply rooted in my own practice.
